You can request an absentee ballot three ways:
Print and complete this application form, then mail it or drop it off in person to the Lynchburg Registrar’s Office (825 Kemper Street, Suite A, Lynchburg, VA 24501)
Call the Lynchburg Registrar’s Office ((434) 477-5999) and request that an application form be mailed to you. Once you’ve received it, complete the form and mail it or drop it off in person to the Registrar.
Go in person to the Registrar’s office during normal business hours and fill out the absentee ballot application in person.
The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is October 25, 2024. Your request must be received by your local voter registration office by 5pm.
The Registrar’s Office will begin sending absentee ballots on Friday, September 20th. Once you receive it, fill it out and send it in as soon as possible.(Once your vote is received, campaigns will remove you from their contact list!)
Your marked absentee ballot MUST be postmarked by Election Day and be received by your local registrar by noon on the third day after the election in order to be counted.
Alternatively, you may return your completed absentee ballot to your registrar’s office by mail or in person. You may also drop off your completed ballot at any polling place by 7pm on Election Day.
YOU DO NOT NEED A WITNESS SIGNATURE. Absentee ballot envelopes submitted by mail or drop box no longer require a witness signature. Instead, voters must include their birthdate and the last four digits of their social security number.
